A Late Summer/Early Autumn Wedding at Larpool Mill, Whitby

Early in September, we had the immense pleasure of providing and styling flowers for Alex and Callum's late summer wedding at the beautiful, intimate country wedding venue, Larpool Mill.

Larpool Mill is a restored 1800's flour mill, a beautiful hidden gem located on the outskirts of Whitby and set within ¾ acres of private land. The mill is surrounded by beautiful un-touched woodland and the soft sounds of a beck that runs by. It has been lovingly and sensitively restored by its owners and now provides a magical spot for couples to get married.

Alex and Callum were a dream to work for. From the start, there was a mutual trust that allowed us to work creatively, whilst honouring the couple's desires for certain colours, forms, shapes and themes. Alex was keen for dried flowers and grasses to be incorporated into her day - and she adored the bright and bold colours of Autumn.

We spent the day prior to the wedding setting up as the family bustled about preparing for the big day. This included hanging our home-grown hops around the arbour, creating beautiful floral table decor for an intimate meal after the ceremony, styling the ceremony space with meadow inspired installations, creating floral dog collars, producing buttonholes and multiple bouquets, some for gifts for the guests, and one beauty of an arrangement for the bride herself.

We hand-delivered Alex's bouquet on the morning of her wedding the next day. It truly was a very touching and moving experience for us - there were joyful tears shed by Alex, her mum and both of us too.

We are so incredibly grateful to this lovely couple for allowing us this wonderful opportunity. Thank you both Alex and Callum, we are beyond delighted to have played a small part in your precious day.

Firstly, a million thank you’s. I can’t explain what a joy it has been to know you and to get to work with you. Never at any stage in the process did we feel anything but truly genuine interest and investment into our day and we are so grateful for this. Philip, I can’t express how genuinely honoured we feel to have had your passion and creativity at the centre of our most important day. I had every faith you would bring to life our vision but you did and then +1000 on top. The energy and magic you provided I am unable to articulate but it was unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Annabel, you are truly a good egg! You have been endlessly supportive and always there for queries and mini chats and from our first messages I felt instantly at ease. Your genuine warmth and positivity has made this process enjoyable and something we will cherish. We are so pleased to have worked with you and we wish you all of the success and we hope other couples can have a piece of your magic as part of their day, can’t help but feel slightly sorry for those who don’t!

Our immense thanks to the absolutely wonderful Yorkshire wedding photographers, Bailey & Mitchell, for so kindly allowing reproduction of these beautiful photographs. We highly recommend this lovely talented duo for anyone looking for a wedding photographer of their own.

We also highly recommend wedding celebrant, and Larpool Mil wedding co-ordinator, Penelope Jayne, if you are looking for someone to officiate your ceremony. Penny is so lovely and calm and it was an absolute pleasure to spend time chatting with her as we spent the day setting up.
